When does whale season occur in Maui?
The best time to visit Maui for whale watching is generally from mid-December to mid-April. This period marks the peak of the humpback whale season in Hawaii, as thousands of whales migrate from colder Alaskan waters to the warm waters around the Hawaiian Islands to breed and give birth. January and February are often considered the prime months for whale watching in Maui, as this is when whale activity is typically at its highest. During this time, you can join whale watching tours or simply observe these majestic creatures from various vantage points along Maui’s coastline.
Many of our guests enjoy the spectacle of whales breaching and spouting in the distance from our lanai. Binoculars are provided for an enhanced viewing experience.
